So…someone told me that she visited our blog. Wow! That was inspiration for me to get back on here. If anyone is out there…say here! In the meantime, I’m trying to stay positive. After all, I think this business is needed in the community. I just need the community to show up and everything will be all good. We’re here for you. We just need you to show up.
My weight is up. I’m working to get it back down. My weight loss goal is seven pounds within a month. I’ll let you know how it goes. I’m eating much better-fruits and vegetables for the most part. I’m active six days a week with Zumba, Bellydance, and other FunDance Fitness classes. Another summer goal is to tone my arms. The underarm fat has got to go! Keeping my focus on that goal is a little tougher, but I can do it. Pics to come soon. What are your summer health and fitness goals?

Hi everyone! We had such a blast at our April Dance Social that we’re doing it again on Sunday, May 20th from 5pm-10pm at the Checkerboard in Hyde Park. Plan to come get your Salsa, Steppin’, and Line Dance on. We are now offering West African Dance class twice per week. If you want to try it, come on Wednesday at 7pm and/or Thursday at 6pm. In fact, we’re having West African Dance three times a week for the next two weeks because our hip hop instructor is on tour and West African in filling in on Mondays 4/23 and 4/30 at 7pm. If you are the first person to comment here that you want those Monday West African classes for free, then you will get them for free. Remember 4/23 and 4/30. See you soon.
Ok people…whoever reads this…that is. What will it take to get more people in class? Prices are reasonable. Location is easy to get to. There’s street parking. Variety of classes. Great instructors. Friendly staff. What would you do to get people in?
We haven’t seen some of you in quite a while. Take some “me” time and enjoy our wide variety of classes. Prices are affordable and you will see results if you put forth the effort. Please join us for our special events this month. Our first book discussion/relationship chat on “Is Marriage for White People?” by Ralph Richard Banks will take place this Saturday, April 7 at 7pm. Facilitator Stephanie Gates will lead the discussion focusing on marriage and romantic relationships. Cost is $5. We will also host a Salsa/Steppin/Line Dance Set on Sunday, April 15 from 5pm-10pm at The New Checkerboard Lounge, 5201 S. Harper Ct, Chicago. Cost is $10. Our Five Dollar Friday Night Events and Free Class Sampler will return in May.

We had a great week last week. People showed up and danced. We are on our way. If you didn’t make it last week, it’s okay. Come this week. We’re here for you. We’re having an Open Mic this Friday from 10pm-1am, so if you have talent that you would like to share, let us know to put you in the line up. We want this to be our best Open Mic! We need you to participate, be audience members and bring your friends. Yesterday, we had an opportunity to do a Zumba Fitness demonstration that was well received. We’re looking forward to establishing working relationships with some of the people we met at the event. Here’s a deal for you. We miss you! Come back to us. You need to get moving. I’m working on positivity. The optimist in me says you’re coming because that’s what you tell me. The realist in me says you can show me better than you can tell me. So, get real with yourself. I’m sure you know the health benefits of movement and the risk factors created from a sedentary lifestyle. I know you’re busy. You don’t like to workout. You get home and you can’t even think about leaving back out. You don’t have anyone to watch the kids. You didn’t eat that poorly today. You don’t see the results anyway. You’re stressed out and just don’t want to be around anyone. Okay. I get it. Now what? You still need to get moving. Carve out some time to come take a class with us. It’s not like working out. We’re having fun. We’re dancing. We’re learning breathing techniques that can help deal with stress. We’re meeting new people. We’re laughing. We’re losing weight. So…tell me. When are you coming?
